PERFORMANCES CLOSE OUT 1997

The Presto-Digitators finished 1997 and ushered in the new year with some sparkling performances. Saturday,December 6, was the date for a stage show at the beautiful recently restored Rialto Theater in Downtown Loveland. A crowd in excess of 250 people were in attendance, thanks to a full page story by Phyllis Walbye in The Loveland Reporter Herald.

Performances included an audience warm-up by Nanny the Clown, Tim Pendergast, and Mel LaMar. Mel closed the first half of the show, a show which also featured, That Old Son of a Witch, Hudson the Magician, Mr. Magic, Byron Ferguson, and headliner, Denver's John T. Sheets. Emcee duties were handled by The Great Loudini. Technical crew Tim Pendergast and Jason Rogers ably assisted offstage.

The second "First Night Fort Collins" provided several venues on New Year's Eve for the Presto-Digitators. Performers in Downtown Fort Collins included Ginger the Clown, Bob Blea, Allan Bryner, Tim Pendergast, Byron Ferguson, Mr. Magic, and Loudini. Crowds of people packed into Ben and Jerry's, Children's Mercantile, and the Elk's Club Ballroom to catch continuous performances by the above mentioned troupe. Revenues raised by the Loveland and Fort Collins shows will be put in the club's treasury for such activities as guest lecturers and subsidizing the annual banquet.

MILESTONE REACHED

A 33 year career with Kodak came to a conclusion on December 31, 1997, as Ed "Mr. Magic" Hurtubis took early retirement from the Windsor, Colorado facility. Threatening to "spend more time on Magic in the Rockies," Ed has already booked several conventions around the country. Look for Ed and Mimi to show up in Las Vegas for the Desert Magic Seminar, in Washington, for the World Magic Summit, and in Hollywood a Hollywood convention. Ed may even undergo some "retraining" at the next Rockies Fantasy Baseball Camp.

A much shorter tenure will come to an end with this issue of the Presto-Digitators newsletter. Yours truly will except the position as Ring Secretary and report club happenings to the Linking Ring. Geoff Thompson will take over as editor with the next newsletter. To celebrate my "retirement," I've booked a weekend in Ault to peruse an Adams magic rack.
